Be Wise To Avoid Chemical Bath Products For Your Baby

Chemical bath products are harmful for adults not to mention babies. Babies have extremely sensitive skin that is very responsive to foreign agents. Chemical bath products can have serious effects on the skin of a baby.

A baby’s skin is extremely sensitive and it is not used to and neither can it protect itself from the harsh chemicals which are present in chemical bath products.

It is the duty of the parents to keep their babies safe. Keeping their babies safe includes giving them a healthy diet, protecting them from external substances and also protecting their sanitary habits. Sanitary habits include bathing and toilet habits those require special attention. This is because a number of germs and bacterial substances are transferred by this process. Hence special care should be taken about the baby’s sanitary process.

In this sphere, parents should take care that their children receive warm baths those are organic and chemical free. Bath products such as soaps, washes and shampoos those are made of chemical products are harmful for baby’s skin because the chemicals can react with the baby’s skin and cause skin problems such as rashes and eruptions.

Babies have soft and very susceptible skin that should be protected from artificial and synthetic substances. Bath products those are made from chemicals contain ingredients which react very harshly with a baby’s soft skin. Hence, for babies bath products those are made from natural or organic substances should only be used.

Several studies in the field of pediatrics show that seventy five percent of all new born babies are susceptible to rashes especially during the first few months after their birth. With an ever increasing array of consumer products for every need and requirement, baby bath products are not far behind. All these products such as soaps, shampoos, powders and so on, which claim to be super soft clean and with moisturizing properties for your baby’s skin. However, most of these products are made from artificial and synthetic substances.

A baby’s skin needs mild substances which provide relief to the skin. However, the chemicals contained in most bath products for babies have substances those are very strong. These substances act in an abrasive manner on the baby’s skin leading to red patches, rashes and eruptions. The skin of adults is more conditioned to chemical products through gradual exposure to these substances over the years. However a baby’s skin is fresh and more permeable than that of an adult. Hence, the chemical substances those are contained in some bath products can be easily absorbed by a baby’s skin. And these chemicals are quite toxic for a baby’s skin.

Some of these chemicals include formaldehyde, 1,4-dioxaneand even nitrosamines. These particular chemicals are very toxic in nature and contain substances those might even cause cancer. For instance, the talcum powders which are used to keep a baby’s skin fresh and smooth contain perfumes which may cause irritation and allergies. It is therefore advisable for parents to avoid baby powders which have talcum.

Another substance that is often used on a baby’s skin is petroleum jelly. Petroleum jelly traps air and hence does not allow fresh air to enter the baby’s skin while at the same time, not allowing the stale air to leave. Petroleum jelly is also an allergen that is quite common. Artificial substances, petrochemicals, synthetic perfumes are themselves irritants and can cause your baby a lot of discomfort.

Herbs, essential oils, natural and organic products are best for a baby’s skin. You must always use products and especially bath products those contain natural herbs, organic substances and so on. These substances are natural and are free from the abrasive ingredients of chemical products. There are also pH balanced herbs like calendula oil, and other similar things which contain anti microbial and anti inflammatory properties which allow your baby’s skin to breathe free. Also these substances help in cellular regeneration leading to healthier skin.

Avocado oil is a substance that is rich in vitamins A,D and E and also sterols and amino acids. Avocado oil is often used in bath products and hair care products. It is easily absorbed by the skin that clams and helps to freshen up the skin of your baby. Borage is another useful substance in a baby’s bath products. Borage is a rich source of gamma linolenic acid, vitamins and minerals. Borage helps to repair and regenerate damaged skin cells and also to moisturize and nourish the skin of your baby.

Green tee is an important source of anti oxidants which prevent cellular damage and help to fight free radicals. Bath products that contain green tea extract are thus very helpful in keeping your baby’s skin healthy. The natural substances those are mentioned are used in a number of products and these are the ones which are recommended for your baby. Natural oils, especially, fruit oils are rich in minerals and nutrients which not only make way for healthy skin for your baby, but also help to protect the skin of your baby and keep it moisturized.

There are several kinds of bath products including creams, lotions, soaps, shampoos, hair products and so on. If these bath products are rich in substances like organic aloe juice, distillate water, organic green tea, botanical extracts and so on, then they are much safer than bath products made from chemical substances. It is advisable to avoid products containing foaming agents, preservatives and other ingredients which are potentially harmful for your baby’s skin.

Organic bath products are free from pesticides and synthetic substances and are therefore safe and healthy for your baby’s skin. As a parent, you can also become familiar with and get to know about the harmful chemicals in several baby products so that you can take better care of your child. Natural and organic products are way better than chemical products any day. So, follow the tips and help your baby to grow healthy.

Chemical Free Face Wash

WIN!! Quench is giving away one India Turmeric Facial Care Set–see details on how to enter below!

In my ongoing quest to eradicate the chemicals from beauty regime, I’ve spent the last month trying out facial washes. Usually, when my cleanser runs out, I find myself quizzing friends about what they use, and then staring at the products on the pharmacy shelf only to grab the same Oil of Olay that I always do. The last time I did this, I vowed to myself, “no longer!” I put the call out for SLS-free washes, and many answered back. The following five turned out to be my favorite–all of which are chemical free.

emerginC Scientific Organics Kombucha Cleanser

This wash packs a punch–wash it on and you’ll be washing off your makeup, dirt and environmental pollutants. The Scientific Organics line promises a minimum of 70% organic ingredients in every item, so you can feel safe using it. emerginC also plants a tree for every scientific organic product sold, so by using the Kombucha Cleanser, you will be doing yourself AND the planet some good. Active Ingredients: Kombucha, grape stem cells, algae extract, glycerin, brightening complex with xylose and galactose from palmaria palmata, spirulina, green tea, white tea, aloe vera, maritime pine bark extract.

Pure+simple Sensitive Cleansing Milk

I loved the consistency of this product–as the name describes, like milk, but I still felt like my face was getting a good wash. Very gentle, but cleans makeup away, leaving my skin soft. The product’s site also outlines various cleansing routines dependent on the type of skin you have, which makes life easy. From the site: “Contains soothing oat protein to reduce inflammation + calm down the most sensitive skin while organic jojoba oil nourishes + protects skin’s natural oils.”

Ottilie & Lulu Clean Skin Face Wipes

Ottilie & Lulu is an entire body care line aimed at 7 – 14 year old girls. I’ve tested several of their products, and they work great on me too! If you have a tween in the house, these wipes are great because 1) In my book, it’s never to early to start washing your face and 2) These wipes make it super simple for even the most active girl to grab, swipe and be clean. I’ve been using them for travel–great for the airlines’ 3 ounce rule! From the site: “Clean Skin Face wipes are specially formulated for tween skin (no salicylic acid) and are the ideal way to help her keep her beautiful, clear skin. The very light scent of rosewater will leave her feeling refreshed.” Moor Spa Cleansing Gel

So after I tested a not-so-hot facial wash and broke out all over (do you feel the love Breezy readers?), I used this cleansing gel. After only a couple uses, my face was back to normal. After washing, my skin never feels dried out, and a nice floral smell lingers. The directions say to put a few drops on a cotton ball and wash, but I put it on my hands–a little goes a loooong way. Active ingredients: Aqua, Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate, Coco Glucoside, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, C12-C15 Alkyl Lactate, Heilmoor Clay, Glycerin, Juniperus Virginiana (Cedarwood) Oil, Melaleuca Alternifolia (TeaTree) Oil, Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Oil, Cananga Odorata (Ylang Ylang) Oil, Cymbopogon Citratus (Lemongrass) Oil, Silver Citrate, Citric Acid.

Quench Turmeric Facial Wash

Turmeric for your face? I would’ve never put the two together, but then again, I’m not the founder of a company who bases all of their product formulations on age old beauty treatments from different cultures. The smell of this wash is fresh and clean, which is exactly how it leaves your face. Even better? Quench donates 2% of sales to charity. From the site, “All Quench products are paraben-free, sodium laureth/lauryl sulfate-free, and petroleum-free. Quench consistently employs small companies and co-ops, often from native communities, and seeks to foster fair trade and empower the women who make these products in the time-honored tradition of the native culture that has used it for generations.”

Facial Chemical Peels Treatment For Skin

Time has changed tremendously. No doubt beautifying your skin is as important as drinking water daily. With the new advancement and technologies lots of treatments and procedures has came up in the market to make your skin look stunning.

Due to the environment and climatic conditions people skin are becoming more prone to acne, wrinkles, dark spots and many more. People are getting more conscious about their skin. To keep the skin glowing, people are opting for the treatments like Chemical Peeling.

‘Chemical Peeling’ as the name itself indicates that different types of chemicals are used in this peeling to give the results. In chemical peeling a solution is applied on the skin and is allowed to penetrate in the skin. The discredited parts of the skin are destroyed in this procedure which helps to get the new skin on the peeled area. The acids are applied on the face depending upon the amount of area to be peeled. The area is kept to cool for some time and then cleaned off by the cotton. It usually takes 14 to 15 days for the procedure of chemical peeling.

There are 3 basic types of peeling namely superficial peel, medium peel and deep peel. Do you know what kind of peeling is required and on what type of skin? The kind of peeling differs on the basis of the chemical penetration, chemical solution. The few common factors that affect the depth of the peeling are the acid concentration of the peeling, number of coats that are applied, and the time which is used till the acid gets neutralized. More the peeling is deeper the more is the effects but along with it, there side effects are also painful and with higher risk.

First is the Superficial Peeling, which is the base of peeling which can be used on mainly all types of skin. Mild diluted acid or the glycolic acid is used in this. This type of peeling is mainly used to remove acne or scars from the face .Fine wrinkles are also removed with the application of this peeling.

Before going for superficial peeling the face of the patient is cleaned properly, and then the diluted Chemical or glycolic acid is applied on the face. It is then left for some time to cool depending upon how much peeling has to be done. While at the time of application of the chemical you might feel burning sensation but, that can be cooled by the air pressure of the fan. After this the chemical is peeled and process of superficial peeling gets over. The patient can easily start up normal activities. Very less amount of redness appears on the face and that too differ from patient to patient.

Second is the medium peeling, in which the skin is more deeply penetrated as compared to the superficial peeling and hence causing the second degree burn. The basic and main chemical used in the medium peel is trichloroacetic acid which is then followed by other acids on the face. The procedure for the medium peeling is more or less same except for the chemicals used in it.

The chemicals applied during the medium peeling are much stronger resulting in lot of pain and burning sensation. As the chemical used in medium peeling are kept for longer duration so a pain reliever is given to the patient’s give the relief from the burning sensation on the skin cool compression is given. Although all these burning and pain is relived once the chemical is peeled from the skin. Approximately 40 minutes are required in total while performing the procedure.

Third is the deep peeling which goes deep into the several layers of skin. It is a difficult procedure and it is not done very commonly. This procedure is mainly done on dark color skin as the area to be peeled is bleached with the phenol acid which penetrates deeply in the skin. A pain reliever or a sedative is given during the process as lot of pain is caused while the procedure. The sedative used is more or less similar to the local anaesthesia.

The acid used in this process is like a toxic which is made to absorb in the body for doing the peeling. The patients are put on monitors and heart instruments to keep the proper check of the organs. A gap of say 15-20 minutes is usually given between the one areas of the skin before starting the second area which has to be peeled. Lots of patience is required during the process.

It is a very time consuming process as nearly 2 hours are required in the whole peeling and, is usually advised once to the patient. After the chemical is peeled the ointment for next 24 hours or a tape for may be 2 days is advisable by the doctors depending upon the condition of the person. The recovery in the deep peeling requires around a month. Doctors do not advise the patients to expose their skin as the redness and swelling on the area of peeling remains till the new skin comes. It is advisable to use lot of moisturizers and washing of the face after any kind of peeling is done. To have the better results it is good to apply the sunscreen whenever you go out in sun.

Going for the peeling of your skin is not easy. It all depends on your skin type. What kind of skins you have? Where you want the peeling? What will be the results of peeling? How much risk is involved in it? These are the basic questions which usually comes in mind before going for peeling.

About two to three weeks prior the date of your peeling you are advised by the dermatitis to clean up your face twice daily, apply some moisturizer or any lotion, and the most important to put sunscreen before exposing your skin under the sun. A typical used medicine for the acne kindly known by the name tretinoin is advisable to use so, that the healing of skin gets easier.

With the help of these skin regime the results of chemical peeling is better without leaving any chance for infection and other problems. As discussed above, in case of medium peeling a small course of medicine is given to prevent from the infection and that likely too if you get cold sores and peeling has to be done near the mouth or eyes area.
